Installation
Strabber works through a single tracking script. Once you add it to your website, Strabber automatically collects data about how visitors use your pages and sends it to Strabber for processing. You install it once, and recordings, heatmaps and surveys all use the same script.
Before you start
You'll need:
- A Strabber account. The free plan is enough to install and test Strabber.
- Access to your website's HTML or template files, or to a tag manager that can add scripts to your pages.
1. Copy your tracking code
You'll find your tracking code in Strabber on the Settings → Integration page. Copy it from there rather than from this page: the code in Strabber contains your own site ID in place of YOUR_SITE_ID.
Your tracking code looks like this:
<!-- Strabber Tracking Code -->
<script>
window.strabber||(function(d){
window.strabber=function(){strabber.commands.push(arguments)};
window.strabber.commands=[];var s=d.createElement('script');
s.async=true;s.type='text/javascript';s.src='https://cdn.client.strabber.com/client.js';
d.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(s);
})(document);
strabber('start', 'YOUR_SITE_ID');
</script>
<!-- Strabber Tracking Code -->
2. Add the code to every page
Paste the tracking code inside the <head> tag of your website, so it loads on every page you want to track:
<!doctype html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<title>My website</title>
<!-- Strabber Tracking Code -->
</head>
<body>
...
</body>
</html>
If your site uses a shared layout or header template, add the code there once rather than to each page separately.
The script loads with async, so it doesn't block your page from rendering.
3. Check the installation
- Deploy your changes and open your website in a browser.
- Click around a few pages.
- Open Strabber and check that your visit shows up.
Troubleshooting
If no data appears:
- The script isn't on the page. Open your site, view the page source and search for
Strabber Tracking Code. If it's missing, check that you added the code to the template your pages actually use, and clear any page or CDN cache. - The script is blocked. Open your browser's developer tools and check the Console and Network tabs for errors loading
client.jsfromcdn.client.strabber.com. Ad blockers and a strict Content Security Policy can both block it. If you use a CSP, allowhttps://cdn.client.strabber.cominscript-src, and allow inline scripts for the tracking code. - You're testing on another domain. Make sure the site you're testing is the one you added in Strabber.

Next steps
Once Strabber is collecting data, you can start watching session recordings, create a heatmap for any page, or set up your first survey.
