Traffic filters
Traffic filters stop Strabber from recording visits from specific IP addresses, countries or internet service providers (ISPs). Use them to keep your own team's visits, testing tools or irrelevant traffic out of your recordings.
Visits excluded by traffic filters aren't recorded and don't count toward your plan's session limit.
To open traffic filters, go to Settings and click Traffic filters under Video recording. Like the other capture settings, traffic filters apply to the current website only.
How traffic filters work
There are three filters: by IP address, by country and by ISP. Each one has:
- A switch that turns the filter on or off.
- A list of the values to exclude.
A visit is excluded if it matches any entry in any filter that's turned on. The entries in a filter that's turned off are kept but ignored, so you can pause a filter without losing its list.
Strabber checks the filters when a recording starts. Turning on a filter doesn't remove recordings you already have.
Filter by IP address
- Turn on Enable filtering by IP address.
- Enter an IP address and click Add.
To exclude yourself, click Add my IP address, which fills in the IP address you're currently using, then click Add. Your own address is marked Your in the list.
Both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses are supported. Each entry must be a single, complete address. Ranges, wildcards and partial addresses aren't supported, so add each address separately.
If your team's IP address changes often, for example on a home connection, you may need to update this list from time to time.
Filter by country
- Turn on Enable filtering by country.
- Choose a country from the list (you can type to search) and click Add.
Visits whose location can't be determined are never excluded by the country filter.
Filter by ISP
- Turn on Enable filtering by ISP.
- Enter the name of the internet service provider and click Add.
The name must match the ISP name exactly as Strabber shows it. The easiest way to get it right is to copy it from the ISP column of the recordings list, or to exclude it from a recording directly (see below).
Like the country filter, the ISP filter never excludes visits whose ISP is unknown.
Exclude traffic from a recording
You can also add an entry while browsing recordings. In the recordings list, open the menu at the end of a row and choose Exclude IP address, Exclude country or Exclude ISP. Strabber adds that recording's IP address, country or ISP to the matching filter.
This only adds the value to the list. If that filter is turned off, turn it on in Traffic filters for the exclusion to take effect.
Remove an entry
Click the delete button next to an entry to remove it from the list. Visits matching it will be recorded again from then on.
