Limits and schedule

Updated

Limits and the schedule let you control how many sessions Strabber records and when. Use them to spread your plan's sessions evenly instead of using them all in a few busy days, or to record only on the days that matter to you.

To open them, go to Settings and click Schedule under Video recording, or click Configure limits and schedule in the capture settings.

Like the other capture settings, limits and the schedule apply to the current website only. Changes are saved automatically.

Turn on limits or the schedule

Limits and the schedule only take effect when the Recording mode in the capture settings uses them:

Recording mode Limits Schedule
Maximum traffic coverage Not used Not used
Use limits Used Not used
Use schedule Not used Used
Use limits and schedule Used Used

The default mode is Maximum traffic coverage. So after you set up limits or a schedule, remember to change the recording mode, or they won't have any effect.

Limits

There are three limits, and you can use any combination of them:

  • Daily limit: the maximum number of sessions recorded in the last 24 hours.
  • Weekly limit: the maximum number of sessions recorded in the last 7 days.
  • Monthly limit: the maximum number of sessions recorded in the last month.

To set a limit:

  1. Turn on its switch, for example Daily limit.
  2. Enter the maximum number of sessions.

When a limit is reached, Strabber stops starting new recordings. Sessions that are already being recorded continue.

The periods are rolling, not calendar periods. For example, the daily limit counts the sessions recorded in the 24 hours before each new visit, not since midnight. As older sessions fall out of the period, recording starts again automatically.

If you turn on more than one limit, Strabber stops recording when any of them is reached.

Choosing your limits

A common approach is to divide your plan's monthly sessions by the number of days in the month and use that as the daily limit. This keeps recording going all month, instead of using up your sessions in the first few days and recording nothing afterwards.

Your plan's own session limit always applies too. When you reach it, Strabber stops recording until your usage resets or you upgrade, even if your own limits haven't been reached.

Schedule

The schedule lets you record only on certain days of the week.

  1. Turn on Enable schedule.
  2. Under Days of the week, check the days when Strabber should record, and uncheck the others.

On unchecked days, Strabber doesn't start new recordings. All days are checked by default.

The day of the week is determined by Strabber's server clock, which may not match your time zone. Visits around midnight in your time zone may fall on the previous or next day.

Combine limits and the schedule

With Use limits and schedule, a session is only recorded if it's on a scheduled day and none of the limits you turned on has been reached. For example, you can record on weekdays only, with a maximum of 300 sessions a day.
